Emotional Reasoning

You have probably noticed that your thoughts impact your feelings. Do you also know that your feelings can influence your thoughts? This is referred to as Emotional Reasoning.


Notice this week if your thoughts are based on how you feel. For instance, ‘I feel _______ so it must be true.’


How often do you use Emotional Reasoning? If you are feeling anxious, do you assume that means something bad is going to happen? If you are feeling guilty, do you automatically believe you have done something bad? How does that influence your thoughts and your actions?


Remind yourself that your feelings may have nothing to do with what will actually happen.
